The British government are looking at proposals put forward to place age ratings on pop music videos due to the rise of sexual themes by pop stars.

There are major concerns by parenting groups, charities and child welfare organisations of young girls being made to feel they should act and dress in order to feel attractive. These concerns and issues raised have been around for sometime and the previous and current government have been investigating and consulting for the best way forward.

While pop culture is very influential it can be at the forefront of criticism from the older generation disapproving of current influences, fashion and the course that society is evolving.

There are strong links between the use of females in negatives ways and the attitudes amongst young boys and men who have abused and manipulated young women and girls, which has been linked to what they see in magazines and pop music videos.

We’ll have to wait and see how these proposals work there way through the British parliament, and the democrat system, as to what rules, guidelines and laws are implemented.
